Ghassouli Zakaria

Zakaria Ghassouli is a founding team member of Avito.ma, Morocco’s leading online marketplace, which he co-launched in 2012. Over the years, he has held multiple strategic roles within the company and played a pivotal role in the 2014 merger that unified Morocco’s classifieds market—bringing together Avito (Avito Group) and Bikhir (Schibsted/Adevinta).

In July 2017, Zakaria was appointed General Manager of Avito. Under his leadership, the company reached profitability and underwent major transformations, including a strategic verticalization of categories, a shift toward mobile-first experiences, and more recently, a focus on enabling online transactions across the platform.

Following the 2020 acquisition of Avito by Frontier Digital Ventures, Zakaria led the integration of Avito.ma with Moteur.ma, driving synergies between the two businesses. He later took on a broader regional role, leading operational efficiencies across all MENA marketplaces under the MENA Marketplaces Group (MMG) umbrella. Prior to Avito, Zakaria founded and managed one of Morocco’s first student-focused online document-sharing platforms (2007–2010). He also worked as a digital project manager and consultant bringing a strong background in tech and digital innovation for various clients.
